Modbus Register Map for JLD634

Post by RayG »

Hi All,

I'm looking at using the JLD634 to control a heat treatment furnace, I'd like to load the temperatures, times, etc via modbus.

Does anyone know where I can get a register map for the JLD634?

Regards

Hi All,

The only thing I've been able to establish, is that the modbus documentation is contained on the CD that is supplied with the device, so I've ordered the JLD634 on that basis.

fingers crossed.

Hi All,

I have translated the Modbus Comms manual for the JLD634 XMT63X

The attached pdf's are the chinese version, and the first draft of the English

I'll be updating the translation and expanding on the examples in due course.

Ray

Hi Marco,

Thanks, for the offer, much appreciated.

I'll be posting some linux code to talk to the JLD634 I've got it working and reading/writing registers, but there are a few details that don't make sense at the moment..

Ray,
Thanks for the manual on the protocol .

marco,

I recieved the JDL634 and it s controlling.
I installled a prolific RS485/USb Vista
COnverter. and I can see its port is open
I am using ProfileUpLoader software but i cant get this software to see the
JDL634. I set the id Channel Address of the JDL634 to 1,
but i cannot communicate or see the Controller.

Is there a simple hardware or software test that I can do which will tell me the JDl RS485
A/B port of the RS485 are working.

I looked at the Driver/application disk that came with the controller
and ran the XMT634 exe file called XMT63x_10e and it runs but the UI is in Chinese?

Hi Bill,

Apologies for slow reply, I don't check back here as often as I should.

Check the following..

1. Polarity of the RS485 connections, I had to trace back to the chip to confirm which was which. + is terminal 7 and - is terminal 8
2. Baud Rate, I'm using 9600, make sure you have baudrate configured correctly at both ends.
3. Network Address, sounds like you've already checked this anyway. Make sure the PC software is also address 1.

Does the software allow you to do something basic like query the present value (PV)?

If you have cro, look at the network data, and see if the JLD is sending a response, and check the levels look ok.

Can't think of anything else... just now.

Ray,

Thanks for your help.
You mention CRO, is this a software package/

Also are you aware of any Visual basic software which handles communications to
a MODBUS RS485 product like the JLD634

@guillaume -- CRO = cathode ray oscilloscope, or in ordinary parlance, a scope. Most useful tool there is in electronics.

Hi etrmedia,

I have the heat treatment furnace control running programming two JLD634's from a mysql database, with a web interface for monitoring.

One JLD634 is for the main furnace, the second one is for the tempering furnace, that i'm yet to build.

Here's the control enclosure

A screen shot, this one is before the tempering furnace code was added

And of course a shot of the inside of the furnace.. :)

The code needs to be tidied up before I'd be happy to publish it.

Ray

PS thanks Richiem for answering the CRO question, I should check back here more often.
