Couple of questions about ssr-25 DA

Post by HereinCS »

Hi. I have no idea how to wire a relay and would appreciate some help:

1. I've decided not to use the PID controller that I bought from here. Instead, I'll use a temperature controller board that I already have. This board takes temp readings from the thermocouple then determines if the heater needs to be on or off. If off, obviously it does nothing, but if on, it puts out a 12v current at up to 4amps. Can I take this output to use to switch my ssr on and off?

2. Is there a wiring diagram on this thing? I have not idea how to hook this up.

Thanks.

SSRs typically have four terminals -- 1 for the AC line hot in, 1 for the AC load hot out, with the AC circuit completed through the heater to the AC neutral; 1 for the DC control signal positive, and 1 for the DC control signal negative. Your 12V DC source will work directly if the SSR control input has more than a 12V upper limit -- many SSRs have an upper limit of 32VDC.

Thanks you for your explanation.

Just to make sure I don't blow anything up:

Terminals 3 and 4 are the DC +/- trigger signal
So AC live goes into terminal 1 and out to terminal 2?

Then this AC output goes to one of the leads in my heater. The other lead in my heater goes to AC neutral, which is not on the SSR?

Thanks again.
