SSR dimesions

Post by robinhood »

I am not sure I have room for one of these SSR in my project box with two pid controllers already in and all the wiring. Guess I just may have to make a larger box !

It's a good idea to keep the high current outside the control box anyway - put the SSR (and heat sink if needed) in a seperate box, and use a proper "NEMA junction box" with conduit knockouts. You only need very small wire - 18 to 22 ga - for the SSR control from the PID to the SSR. The high current wire on the output side of the SSR is standard building wire - such as 14 ga solid for 15 Amp circuit, 12 ga for 20 Amp, etc.

Good luck!

thanks for your help! I may just use an external relay instead the SSR since I don't have room for it in the project box as I like to keep all controls together .
