I'm in the process of building a 900 x 600 table.
I am trying to calculate how many amps I need to run 4 steppers @36vdc;
Using LO XLE900 X-Y table, Green Z table and future U axis rotary.
Looks like they use/similar Nema 23, high torque, 3-phase 5a motors.
If it were my DC circuit my math would say 4 steppers @ 5A each = 20Amps
I understand not all axis(s)'s would be running at the same time, maybe
two or three at the most using auto focus. I googled it, but got lost in the math
with idle current's and phasing.
There is a big difference in price of switchers @36vdc 10a ($67)
-vs- @36vdc 20a or more for around $100 +

Re: Stepper Current Requirements
You right, both Z and U will not runs simultaneously with the X&Y. So, you need 10A for the combination of X and Y
