I don't know what I can do because other folks already explained things well here. Either your tube is dying or having bad alignment. This kind of issue has been mentioned many times and you can do search on it Plus, I told you that 25mA is way too much to be used to drive a small a laser tube.

By the way, you didn't give out any information about your laser machine. Beside knowing that it is a "40W", nothing else we know. FYI, if the length is only 700mm (28") long, it would be even worst if driven it by 25mA because it is not 40W but 32W only. Max current is limited to 16mA.

Moreover, there is no picture showing the cutting. We don't know how thin or thick the cutting line was. Being able to see the cutting, we can determine the focus.

So, in order to help, you need to provide more information. All we can do here is by "guessing" . Also, I strongly recommend you download the manual and go through the manual to learn the basic operation of LaserCad.

hi marco

is the power setting the current setting?

the focus is fine, very sharp
the tube is brand new
the laser is a K40 with lightobject upgrade ( AWC608 electonic control with lasercad)

slowing down the speed helps a bit but still wont cut through 2mm mdf

if theres no answer (cant find one anywhere on this forum)
then i can accept that

with two passes i can cut 2mm balsa

thanks marco

Yes, power setting control laser current

Unfortunately, new tube doesn't mean trouble free

Remove the laser tip and try it without see what happen

Then, burning something direct from the tube without any optics and set current at 16mA

I forgot to ask you, how did you wire up the laser tube?
Don't tell me that you used soldering iron to do it

marco

no solder

i used the original wiring, nothing on this side of the power supply was changed

the original wires that came with the laser are still there

with the wiring layout i had it was all on the other side of the power supply

the only deviation from the kit and wiring layout was that i took an existing 5v supply from exist. power supply (originally fed the moshi board) and used it to
power the LED meter and didnt use the supplied 24v to 5v converter

the exist power supply was only modified on the control board input side

hope this makes sense

once again thanks for your time, it is much appreciated
