slice thickness

Post by Javier »

Hi, I have a 40w laser cut wood and me and methacrylate 3mm thick, how I can get the deepest cut of the material?

A couple factors affect the laser:

1) Better focus lens (use higher quality as most small laser machine comes with average quality ZnSe lens)
2) Longer focus point (use 75mm over 50.8mm or 38.5mm). Shorter focus lens good for engraving
3) Use air assisted laser head
4) Add beam expander
5) Use better 40W laser tube. Note, K40 or K40 isn't a real 40W machine but 32~34W only (700mm tube). To get a real 40W, the length is running about 850mm. 1000mm(1M) = 45~50W
6) Current: Limited to 18mA for a 40W laser. Over current not necessary more power but reversed when over 20mA

thank you very much
The laser power affects? that the difference between a tube and a 40w 100w?

Do you mean if longer focus point then i can cut more thicker material.
