VFD - issue with motor

Post by robs1412 »

Hey guys,

I have an issue with the VFD I just bought on lightobject.com.
Here are the specs from the website:
2.2KW 220V 3 phases Variable Frequency Drive/ Power supply for CNC Spindle
Specification:
Type: Single or 3 phases input, 3 phase output
Input: 180V~240V, 50Hz/60Hz
Power: 2.2KW, 10A, 3HP
Frequency: 0.1~ 400.00HZ
Accurazy: 0.1%
Resolution: 0.01Hz
Dispaly: 5 digit Digital Display

I have a 120/240V delta 3 phase line (120V, 120V, 240V, ground)

The motor is a 2.2KW 3 phase motor. Works perfectly on the delta line.

I tried to hook up the VFD every possible way.
Tried with three phase power (120 to R, 120 to S, 240 to T) and combined single (120 to R, 120 to S).
Both times the VFD turned on and seemed to work. When I plugged the motor in though it just whirled.
I could make it whirl up and down with the adjustment but I didn't like the high pitched sound and that nothing was moving.
Tried with 2 different machines (I know that was a bit risky, but both are working fine still).

However, I'd really like to get this to work so I can control the motor speed.

Any ideas? Would really appreciate the help!

Robert
