Re: Maximum engrave resolution of the AWC608?

Yeah. I learnt that the hard way, steaming coolant! That was based on his 5 litres of water. So, now I have an aquarium chiller and 15 litres of deionised water with 5 litres of anti freeze. Re the divergence, well, yeah I learned that the hard way too, so drop the laser power down for stuff like th...

Re: Maximum engrave resolution of the AWC608?

Oh thanks for this,is is a nice alternative to the build log form, less fiddly, much easier to use! I should explain how I came to be on this forum and why I am still asking questions..! I bought a home made laser from a guy here in the UK and tbh, if he had taught me everything to know about laser ...

Re: Maximum engrave resolution of the AWC608?

So obviously small divergence is better since that enables a more reliable cut/engrave across the bed? As opposed to small at one end and huge at the other. I noticed that the majority of divergence seems to happen early on. Which if I think about it makes sense. The closer the beam to the first mir...

Re: Maximum engrave resolution of the AWC608?

So after loads of reading... I have a 25.4mm focal length lens which using buildlogs calculations sheet depending on the lasers distance from the lens should give a dot size of between 0.059 and 0.1274 ( the distance between the head and the laser aperture can go from around 100mm to 1800mm when tak...

Maximum engrave resolution of the AWC608?

Hi, I can't seem to figure out what the maximum resolution is. I have looked around and can't seem to find anything. Is it 1000 DPI or 1200 DPI?

Thanks :)

If you regulate the voltage the max the 60W PSU would supply that would work.

Re: Co2 Gas Leakage

I believe you are right about them leaking. I have no idea if you use co2 the harder you push the laser. I wouldn't have thought so because the power comes from the voltage, somewhere in the region of 23Kv :D and 0.23 amps. Lasers are pretty inefficient as that's roughly what a 60 watt runs at. Tube...

Re: air assist head focal length?

Focal length changes depending on the type of lens used, not the physical head. A lens with a wider beam (kerf) will give a longer focus length and a deeper cut. If you decide on your lense then you could estimate the focal length.

Re: Coreldraw plugin for Version X8

Do you have access to a Corel Draw x7 installation? You can copy the files from there. If not. Pm me and I will give you a hand.

It's easy and you don't need the installation once you know how.

Re: Having a hard time dialing in backlash on an R5

I'd agree with Chad Check your steppers and if needed file a flat on them. Make sure there is no play in any carriages and everything is done up nice and right. Make sure the grub screw on the pulley is positioned over the flats when doing them up. Tension your belts as best you can. If you don't ha...

Re: system keeps resetting and occasionally loses power

Sounds like one of your power supply units might have faulty capacitors. When not under load it's fine. When it's under load it can't supply enough power and reboots.

Re: Winter is coming. Watch out "Thermal shock" on laser tube

This is one of the reasons I have opted for a Teco aquarium chiller. It has a heater and uv bulb to kill any algae. Start it up and let he chiller heat the water then the heater will switch off and the chiller will keep the water cool when the laser is operating. I'm using it with a 25 litre drum as...
