Re: Any Lasercad alternative out there?

Well the subject line pretty much says it all. Just wondering. I finally completed work on the little laser conversion and got everything working. FIrmware is updated and I'm running the latest version of Lasercad. Looking around on this forum and finding that I need to save my Illustrator files as...

Re: Any Lasercad alternative out there?

I am now on my 4th Laser machine. MY first machine was a G.Weike, LaserCad here is light years (pun kind of intended ) it was so much better than that software, I thought about ripping out the controller and installing a LO one! I sold that machine and moved to a nicely rebuilt ULS 50 watt but reall...

Re: Using E5 DSP controller for Diode Laser

E5 is almost identical to X7 except that E5 had no colorLESs, Ethernet connection,, and is limited to 3 axial which is very common. Other than that, you can treat the E5 as a baby version of X7 I will use E5 for our new developing small laser machine that is ready to launch on July! The price is ju...

Using E5 DSP controller for Diode Laser

I already have a nice working laser but would like to build up a 4 or 5 watt diode laser. Can the E5 be used for that? The diode setup I am thinking about could us a PWM signal or other output from the controller. I would rather not mess with Mach 3, breakout boards and the like If I can use this co...

Just want to add, replaced the tube with a new one from LightObject and it works fine.

Re: Dying Tube Symptoms

I'm sorry but I don't understand what was your question Can you explain again. Marco Can a tube be drawing the rated milliamps and still have low output power? I can see the beam in the tube but very low output power to the work, mirrors are clean and aligned. Could it also be intermittent, works o...

Dying Tube Symptoms

I have a 35 Watt G.Weike Storm 500 laser machine purchased new or I new received in May. Can the tube be firing the blue gray beam inside and drawing the rated MA and be bad, as low output?? Sometimes if it is working the cut will be very low output at first and then ramp up, all on the same vector ...

Re: Desoldering laser tube connection?

You can strip off the protection jacket and wrap the wire to the pin a couple round. Than tight it with a cable tide or some sort of fixture. Marco That's a really good idea Marco, hadn't thought of that. Or hold the wire tight against the connection and take some small solid copper wire and wind a...

Re: PWM vs Analog

You need to measure the output current from the Laser power supply to the laser tube. For 800mm tube (40W), you may need 16~18mA to drive it. Less cutting power usually caused by aging tube or bad focus lens, assuming focus is fine tuned. PWM helps better on engraving. FYI cutting, it is not irrele...

PWM vs Analog

My laser has a 35 watt tube about 800 mm long and the 40 watt PS has only 0-5 volt signal input for control. IS there an advantage to going with a new PS with PWM? I seem to have trouble in cutting but not engraving. The controller I have and the software both support PWM.

Re: Laser isn't engraving properly

I fitted a 60W laser to an old Universal Laser ULS-25PSR using the ULS controller. The ULS originally had a Synrad RF excited laser. I connected the PWM output of the controller to the laser power supply. The system cuts okay, but when I engrave I don't get a sharp edge in the X direction (scanning...

Re: Belt problem?

After a lot of work I believe we have narrowed it down to the axis stepper motor wiring. I believe the wiring on the X-Axis motor is shorting out or something of that nature. I would suspect a bad stepper motor before the wiring, unless its in a connector. You swapped the driver boards around and s...
