Re: objects sometimes are displaced

If it is repeatedly on the same place, it's something with your layout. It it occurs randomly at different places, then you are loosing steps. This can have quite a few causes: most common causes are too high accelerations or speeds for your motors. but dents or dirt on your guiding (rail) can be a ...

Re: Upgraded with X7 kit - issues with steppers

Every single attempt made gives "Engrave Beyond border limit!" on the X7 panel. When engraving the laser has to start somewhere left or right from the engraving to gain the requested speed. This implicates that if the speed is high and the accelleration is quite low, you need quite a dist...

Re: 1800x1200 Gantry Vibrations

You may try to find a better setting for the microstepping. this might solve some or all fibrations as motors can run smoother. Can you have one or more worn bearings in your rollers? If there is room for it, you can always enforce (truss) the gantry with a piece of U-profile glued (temporary) to th...

Re: Upgraded with X7 kit - issues with steppers

has anyone here installed a beam-combiner and put a pointer inline? I had experimented with it but took it out again. To be honest, i think it's more a fancy gadget than a real practical solution: - The red dot on your work can have a minimal diameter but because of the light intensity it can be ap...

Re: Upgraded with X7 kit - issues with steppers

Sometimes all directions and plus / minus make it very confusing to get ALL directions right. When you have your key-direction right it can still be your product is mirrored.. That's why i think it might look at the wrong sensor. Anyway you have 6 (homing) sensor-inputs. If you have 6 attached you c...

Re: need help with X7 engraving settings

I had similar effects when my first tube was at its end.. Although your tube is new, it can be a bad tube.. When you reduce the speed and lower the power you could monitor the current between the blocks and the whole distance.. Not sure what to expect but i think the current should be te same.. If s...

Re: need help with X7 engraving settings

Is there any way to diagnose whether there is a problem with the laser tube or the power supply? Not that i know, other than replacing the one or the other. I don't expect you to have and use specific HighVoltage equipment to measure something. You might see the currentmeter dropping, but i think i...

Re: Change zero coords? Homing offsets?

Or mechanicaly position the home-sensor to the appropriate coordinates: move it 30mm to the left/right/forward/back.
Or mechanically extend the sensor-trigger by 30mm.
Or set your origin right (like ChrisBorg said)

BTW i always use a origin somewhere where i can position my material easily..

Re: need help with X7 engraving settings

It seems to me that the laserpower is collapsing due to insufficient power of the supply, during longer firing. It also can be the tube to be unstable. You might try the following: Set your black to a grey (about 75% grey), dither that (something like Floyd Steinberg) and engrave that. Your laser wi...

Re: Best settings for dithering on anodized aluminum for DSP

A lens with a smaller focal distance has a smaller spotsize. Widening your beam (with a beam-expander) will also reduce the spotsize.
To play with some data, i attach this excel-sheet:

Re: Any Lasercad alternative out there?

when I import it into LaserCad it took the lines from the AI drawing and made them three cutting lines wide. Not sure what you mean... but sometimes there are a lot of duplicated lines in a drawing. Not visible on the screen but present. When you export your drawing in DXF or any other verctor-form...

It's quite normal that a lasertube has an offsett of around 12%..

Re: 45W Laser Power Supply Wiring for Manual Power Control

Did you connect both (Laser1 and Laser2) WP (waterprotect) connectors to GND on the controller? Or connected a flowswitch to one of this connectors and shortcircuited the other to GND??
It is not in your drawing..

Re: Engraving problem

At the other hand.. It can speed up engraving.. if the characters are spread over a wide object, the laserhead has to travel quite a distance without engraving.. Only when all characters are set close together it can be a bit slower in total..

Re: Engraving problem

It is a setting.. I thought it is on the page when you download a file to the laser, something about reorder or optimize, something..
