Re: Power supply / cutting question

It can have several reasons: - I don't know what your material is, but with plywood some of the gaps in the layers are filled with a kind of chalk. This is very hard to burn through. - another is alignment of the tube, mirrors and lens. Although it seems quite strange, I had that in the past. tiltin...

Re: Making a custom printerhead for laser cutting/engraving

If you can machine a complete new laserhead, you can also machine those parts, i guess. Else a machineshop can do that but i think it is the cheapest way to buy a random suitable laserhead (on eBay, Aliexpress, Banggood etc) and use that for making your parts. For a lightweight, small head.. take a ...

Re: Backlash compensation?

Backlash is always a shortcoming of mechanics, IMHO.. You should first solve that.. I made several lasers with absolutely no visible backlash. Even engraving a vertical line of 0.05mm is straight and continuous. Only under a microscope of 40x magnifier I can see in which direction was engraved (bidi...

Re: please help

Tubes do get worse in time, even when stored.. but 18 months is a bit short to get this.. Normally i won't use a tube that is older than two years of storage. It's a guess, but i think when you replace the tube for a fresh new one, your laser will work fine again.. That is, ofcourse, when you have n...

Re: please help

Normally i would expect the tube to be broken: The current you measure is way too high. When tubes degrade you will notice a rise in current and a decrease in outputpower. But you still will see the plasma inside (as in your video) The HV-powersupply can't deliver that current all the time. That's w...

Re: New keypad layout and new features request for DSP T9+

I like to add one thing in general:
in many workshops the illumination is not that bright or it is on the wrong place..
I think the contrast in light-grey and white is somewhat poor..

And how many users have a U-axis??

Re: Laser Tube Aging?

The Mahoney laser-power-meter (in fact a huge thermometer) is not that accurate. You can measure the tube's degradation when you measure the power frequent (once every month or so..) You can also see degradation in the current: at the end of the tube's life, the current will increase lack of suffici...

Re: Am I missing something in RayCam?

….. -K not connected, +K going to TTL...... As the L in TTL stands for LOW-level, i immediately thought it should be connected to the -(minus)K Looking at the photo, i see a wire coming from -K and nothing from +K.. So only mistaken in tekst, not practise :P WHY do you connect the 5V to the Waterpr...

Re: Am I missing something in RayCam?

I did some experiments for you. My LO-X7 is a bit older so i still work with LaserCad. I doubt there will be much difference between the latest versions of LaserCad and RayCam, except that RayCam will only work with the latests LO-X7's (Not SINJOE /Trocen AWC708C) But i downloaded the latests LaserC...

Re: Am I missing something in RayCam?

I think that you overlooked one thing: A laser fires or not. That means that a greyscale can be achieved by changing the ratio of dots and spaces. A grayscale picture needs to be set to a 1-bit Bitmap using a dithering methode like Floyd-Steinberg, Jarvis or Stucky (or one of the many other algorith...

Re: MPC 6525A Controller replacement help needed

You can connect the +5Vdc from each motor-output (X,Y,Z....) to the + inputs of the drivers (+Dir, +Pul) For the Laserpowersupply: Just take a multimeter (Select Ohm) to see which cable (they are all blue, as far as i can see) is connected to the lasersupply TTL- etc.. I advise to shortcircuit the W...

Re: Start/Stop point issues

A few things can cause this: Backlash: Belt tension of Y is insufficient or/and one or more timingwheels (beltgears) are not tightened enough so they can rotate around the axis Steploss: the acceleration or speed is set too high for your machine, a small dent the guideways or dirt on or in the beari...

Re: Image Dither

Let me explain what dithering is: A laser fires or not.. this means that you can only engrave in black or white( or material color) Maybe you have seen photo's in old newspapers. They where only printed in black. Grayscale was done with the ratio between black ink and paper. Less black means a light...

Re: X7 Engraving help

As you have centered the object, increased the acceleration and lowered the speed, i can only think of having the size-settings of your workarea different from the actual workspace, in relation to your homepoint. Do you use homing? (your head will move to the corner you selected as homepoint after p...
