New tube cuts great but engraves terrible.

I replaced my 40W 700mm tube with a LO 45W 1000mm tube and it cuts great but the engraving is not so good. In fact it is getting worse. The engraving started out by engraving everything like it is bolded and blurry. The only thing I could think to do is change the font to a line font. It looks bette...

Re: New tube engraving differently.

I just finished working on the alignment and I believe it is better but not the same yet. Not sure what to do next. I have it aligned where I hit the center of the ficus lens in all four corners of the laser bed. I am using a 50.8mm focusing lens and wonder if I need to try a 38.1mm lens. Would that...

Re: New tube engraving differently.

Thanks SWMS, I will look closer at everything again. One of my problems is that there is next to no adjustment on the mirrors. I have a FS Hobby laser that I bought back in 2012 and it is now being controlled by one of Marco's LO X7 controllers along with one of his 45W tubes and cooled by a 600W mi...

Re: New tube engraving differently.

Thanks Kees, I just spent the last hour or so going through beam alignment. I have the laser hitting the center of Mirror 1,2, and 3. The beam shape on the heat transfer tape was round and looked good. Are there any settings in the DSP that can help? I really like the increase in power but it appear...

New tube engraving differently.

I just purchased a new 1000mm 45w tube to replace my 700mm 40w tube. It is cutting great but seems to be rastering text larger, like it is bolded. It seems like the beam is larger or something. Has anyone run into this problem or know what may be going on? It also appears not as crisp. The optics ar...

Re: Unlock Steppers

Thanks Techgraphix, I have decided to leave well enough alone for now. It appears I have much bigger fish to fry now. I don't know what has happened but the controller has gone crazy. I for the life of me can't get the limit switches working in the upper right corner of the laser and now when I rast...

Unlock Steppers

I would like the ability to unlock the steppers so I could move the laser head quickly to any point on the bed. I don't think this is possible with the X7 DSP, or at least I haven't found a way to do it. Has anybody come up with a way to temporarily unlock the motors, move the laser head, and then l...

Alarm out on LO 600W chiller to X7 DSP

Just received my LO 600W mini water chiller and want to hook the alarm out to my X7 DSP. Anyone have the pinouts for the alarm out plug on the back of the chiller? or a diagram of how they connected it to their X7 DSP?

Thanks, Bill

Re: DSP- LO-x7 limit switch

Thanks for the replies. It is not working in the -x and -y either. I verify which X and Y to put it on by moving the laser head around. when moving away it is moving in the +X direction and when moving right it is moving in the +Y direction. I have verified that the micro switches are working by con...

Re: DSP- LO-x7 limit switch

Quick question. I have my X and Y limit switches wired to the normally open contacts. I have connected contact to the +X and +Y limits on the card and have tried the other ends to GND and +24. Nothing seems to work. When I go into the Manufacturer Parameters and check the Hardware Limit it wont stay...

Re: Laser Printing in reverse.

Thanks Marco for getting back so quickly. I check all the settings and they are all "Left Up" as should be. When I laser a arrow pointing to the right it will laser a arrow pointing to the left. This is pretty frustrating..

Laser Printing in reverse.

Out of the blue my laser is printing in reverse. Mirrored you might say. This happened once in the past and I was somehow able to get it to print correctly again but haven't been able to this time. I can't remember what I changed. What setting do I need to change? As of now I am mirroring the output...
